Where do America’s Olympic medalists come from? In 2008, two of them came from Miami’s inner city, and specifically, the Miami Northwest Express Track Club. No Olympic achievement is easy, but for these athletes the challenge was even greater because they had no financial support during their formative years (Please read the Miami Herald story on Jesse Holt and Bershawn Jackson in our Articles Tab entitled “Coach and Batman”). You can make a difference in the lives of young people and make an impact through Track & Field, by supporting our 2025 Operational Budget. That’s why, for 49 years the Miami Northwest Express Track Club has made it our mission to help promising inner city youth achieve their full potential as athletes and as productive citizens. People like Bershawn “Batman” Jackson and Tiffany Ross-Williams, who rose above the poverty and crime that surrounded them in Liberty City to represent America at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Achievements like this take time, commitment and, quite honestly, money. Money to pay for shoes, equipment and to support the Miami Northwest Track and Field Classic, an international competition that our organization has hosted for more than 48 years. The money is also used to help defray the costs of bringing inner city children to national track events; often the only opportunity they have to experience the world outside of South Florida. While costs continue to rise, funding sources are drying up. We need the help of businesses and individuals like you to ensure that children who show promise aren’t held back because of their family finances.
